What is Planning Permitted Development (PD)
Permitted development rights allow homeowners to make certain extensions to their properties without the need for planning permission. These rights are granted by local planning authorities and are subject to specific criteria, such as the size and design of the extension. The goal is to streamline the planning process for minor changes that are unlikely to have a significant impact on neighbours or the local environment. Extensions covered by permitted development are typically smaller in scale and meet predetermined conditions to ensure they are acceptable without the need for full planning permission.
But remember whether or not your extension is ‘PD’ or requires full planning permission, you will always be required to submit a building regulation application. This is so you are building with the correct and up to date building specifications.
